Conservation of Artworks
In preparation for the museum reopening, lots of important work has been taking place behind the scenes to ensure museum artefacts are display ready. This includes the conservation of artworks, specifically three paintings: ‘Road or No Road’ by W. A. Dick, ‘Ken Inglis’ by James Hoey Scott, and ‘St Andrews from the East’ by James Graeme Leckie Ewing. These paintings have either never been display, or have not been displayed for decades owing to their poor condition. Yet, they help to tell the story of the development of St Andrews into the popular seaside Town that it is today. We are delighted that these paintings have been carefully conserved and look forward to displaying them as part of our permanent exhibitions when we reopen in 2025.
